Products Needed -
Craft Knife
Steel Ruler
Glue Stick/Gun
3D Sticky Tape
Coloured card
3 x Beads
Matching Coloured Wire

This card can be made from the simplest of materials, as long as you use shapes and colours that compliment each other as I have done on this design. The reason why this card works is because of the length of the card and the design fills most of it! Remember you don’t just have to use paper and card, the design shown in these pictures is made up of wide ribbon which determined the width of my rectangles.

1. Firstly make sure that your working space is clean and you have enough space to cut, glue and create. Take your greetings card and lay it on your work mat, I normally take a good look at the size of the card before I start cutting and sticking, It might even be a good idea to sketch out your designs before anything so you know exactly what is going where.

2. Once you have the idea sketched out or in your head, take some of the coloured card and carefully measure out 4 identical rectangle shapes. Making sure that each rectangle is a different style, design or texture.

3. Sit the 4 Rectangles on to the card and decide which 2 of the 4 you are going to make look stronger by backing them on to strong white card – these will be the 2 which are risen slightly by using small squares of the 3D tape.

4. Carefully stick your 4 rectangles on to the card, I would suggest sticking them down alternately, so from the top down you start with one that is risen then have one that is flush with the greetings card, then another that is risen, and finally the last one will be flush with the greetings card again. Make sure along the way that the gap between each rectangle is even.

5. Now for the flower, I used thick shinny blue floristry wire, which is fairly easy to bend in the way of which you want it. Although this requires a lot of patience, you will get it in the end (it took me plenty of attempts to get it right). If you are struggling to style the wire in the shape of the flower or your chosen design, try drawing it first and if your hand moves freely when drawing it, you will begin to love the shape…this will be easier when molding the wire. When you finally master it, take your glue gun and drizzle a tiny amount on to the centre of the flower, quickly and carefully place the flower on the chosen rectangle.

6. Finally, take 3 beads and drop some PVA glue on to the back of each bead and place them in the required spot. You should have already decided where they are going when you sketched out your design or when you see mine!

Good luck when making this card… remember you don’t have to use blue as the theme, or wire for your 3d shape…you can just use my design as a guide line and adapt it in any way you wish.

Here is the finished card on my site
