Materials Needed
Black Greetings card
3D Sticky Tape
Golden/Yellow fine paper
Butterfly emblem
Glue Stick
Craft Knife
This greetings card is very simple to make, as long as you have patience and a nice and clean and tidy work area. The main attraction on this card is the butterfly emblem that is repeated, on the front. This can either be bought ready made or you can take the plunge and make it yourself, it all depends on how confident you are feeling!
1 First take some thick patterned card and cut into butterfly shapes, I would advise drawing them on with a pencil first. Carefully cut out your templates with a craft knife. You can use anything you like for the detailed sections i.e wire and diamonds. Stick small 3D squares on to the back, ready for when you are ready to stick them to the card.
2 Choose your coloured paper carefully, remember this would look really good if the colours co-ordinate, so if the background of your butterfly is gold, then have the paper a yellow/golden colour.
3 Carefully measure out 2 squares the same size, these will be the new homes for your butterflies so they need to be cut straight and very carefully with your craft knife…watch your fingers!
4 Once you have your cut out squares, carefully glue them to the greetings card, do not apply too much pressure because the paper is thin, if you press down with your glue stick to hard then the paper might rip! Next take the butterflies that you have already cut out and peal the back from the 3D sticky tape, and drop into place.
5 This card can be decorated with anything else you wish as long as it is colour coordinating, as you can see from the picture I have simply places 3 gold squares at the bottom to complete the design.
If you think of anything exciting or do a design that is something you are truly proud of then send me a picture, id love to see any new designs that people come up with!
