Choose your ribbon
Luckily I was given the brief for the wrapping of this car, and was directed to used pink ribbon. As i knew that I wanted the ribbon to look big and effective once placed on the car, i decided to use thick sick ribbon in 2 different tones of pink for effect and a definate wow factor. It all depends on what you are wrapping the smaller the product then the smaller the width of ribbon you can get away with.
Making the bow (on the roof)
Making the bow is simple, for a bow like the one used in these pictures it took 3 of us to control the production.
The idea is to make a loop and wrap it round as many times as possible, for example if you were making a smaller bow then you could use somebody's hands to wrap around. As you can see in the image with 3 smaller bows the loops that have been created - of course this is on a much smaller scale but the same rules apply.
Once you have created your loops, for the large bows wrap around 100 times for size...you will need to measure the middle and snip small pieces of the ribbon out from each side, then tie with the same couloured ribbon...the while you have been doing this DO NOT LET GO ON THE LOOPS(you will only have to start again)
Once the middle is tied together as in the picture, you can then start pulling and twisting each loop out - from the middle first. The more twist and pull you give the bow then more height it is likely to have.
Decorating the car...
This is the easy bit...taking the ribbon and wrapping it around the width first, this is definately easier if there is 2 of you. Attach one end of the ribbon to the underneath of the car with celeotape and pass underneath and over untill you are happy with the width you have created. Then do the same on the lenght of the car put using the wipers to attach.
Once you have created a parcel style wrap over the car its now time for the finishing touches.
Use any left over ribbon to create smaller bows for the wing mirrors and wipers, when attaching the large bow to the roof try to tie it to the cross in the middle of the roof.
Dont forget to take your sissors and celotape as they always come in hany, especially the sissors for curling those loose strands of ribbon...
See the finished results... the present went down a treat with the newly wed!
